Questions

Questions about GridSlate

What photographers ask before they install, and where to write if yours is not here.

Free period and plans

Is GridSlate free?

Yes, until 1 March 2027: every feature on one computer per account, with no card and no payment. Download GridSlate and sign in with Google, Microsoft or Apple.

What happens on 1 March 2027?

GridSlate starts to need a subscription to export. You can still open and edit your work, and it stays yours. Anyone who starts after that date gets 30 days free.

How will GridSlate be priced?

One plan, priced per PC, and every extra PC costs less. The pricing section shows the prices from 1 March 2027; until then there is nothing to pay.

Will there be a yearly plan?

Yes. Yearly will cost ten months for twelve, so two months are free.

Will I be able to cancel any time?

Yes. There is nothing to cancel now. A subscription can be cancelled from your account page, and runs to the end of the period you paid for.

Computers

Can I move GridSlate to a new PC?

Yes. Sign in on the new PC and the other one is freed for you. A freed PC can use your account again after 30 days. Until 1 March 2027 each account has one computer.

How many PCs can I use?

One per account until 1 March 2027. After that, as many as your plan has: one PC is one computer signed in to your account. Windows and Mac work together in any mix.

Do I need to be online?

Only to sign in and to check in at least once every 30 days. GridSlate works offline for up to 30 days at a time.

Payment and invoices

Do I need to pay?

Not until 1 March 2027. After that you can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay in euros or dollars, or by MB WAY or Multibanco in euros.

Do I get an invoice?

Yes, once you pay: one for every payment, as a PDF on your account page and in your email, with your company name, tax number and billing address if you add them.

Is tax included in the price?

Yes. The invoice shows the tax portion for your country: customers in the EU pay their own country’s VAT, others none.

Using GridSlate

Who is GridSlate for?

Photographers who shoot many people and deliver each their own photos: schools, sports teams and clubs, events, dance studios, nurseries and graduations. If you photograph a list of people, GridSlate sorts, places and prints them.

How does GridSlate know whose photo is whose?

You print a QR name card for each person from your roster, a CSV file from Excel or a registration system. At the shoot you photograph the card, then the person, and GridSlate gives every photo to the person on the card before it.

Does GridSlate change my original photos?

Never. It only reads them. Ratings, adjustments and placements live in GridSlate’s own catalog.

Which file types does it open?

JPEG, PNG and TIFF, and camera RAW files. For RAW it uses the JPEG preview your camera stores inside the file; it does not develop the RAW data.

How does face placement work?

An AI model finds each face and puts it on the mask’s face target, the same size every time, with sideways shots stood upright. It flags the few it is unsure of for you to check: several faces, a face at the edge, or no face found. It runs on your computer.

What do I send to the lab?

JPEG or TIFF sheets, or one PDF per group, with bleed and crop marks, at your lab’s paper size and resolution.

Will it keep up with a whole school?

Yes. Thumbnails are made once and cached, so the Library scrolls thousands of photos smoothly, and exports run in the background while you keep working.

Which computers does it run on?

Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and macOS 13 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel. 8 GB of memory is enough; 16 GB is better for large jobs. It uses your graphics card for faces when it can, and the processor when it cannot.

Privacy and help

Do my photos leave my computer?

No. Photos, catalogs, templates and exports stay on your computer. A photo reaches us only in a screenshot you choose to send with a problem report.

Can I delete my account and my data?

Yes, on your account page: download a copy of your data, or delete the account once any subscription has ended. Invoices are kept for the years the law requires, without your name or email.

How do I get help?

Write to [email protected] and a person answers. Your account page has a button that starts the email with your account and plan already in it.
